About the project

The intention behind my paintings is to give you inspiration and a safe space to grow and recharge. I love painting centerpieces for homes—not to express my artistic ego but to contemplate space and people using it. They provide an anchor, a point of reference for your home. To me, a centerpiece is much more than decoration; it’s a background for your life.

It all started with my home centerpiece. I felt a deep need to paint it. Since I finished it in 2017, it has been an anchor for me and my family. It is hard to explain, but I know it serves an important role. It is a witness to my daughter growing up, to our joys and struggles.

I hope you’ll find inspiration and comfort in my works and that your centerpiece will become important to you, too.

About me

My name is Maciej Sarna. I graduated in psychology and studied film animation at the University of Art. I paint improvised—rarely do I have a clear idea about the outcome before I start. This process is a very specific adventure, the adventure of contemplation and acceptance.  I work in series, so there are the same borders and some kind of conformity, but the painting process always gives something unexpected, its physicality is very important.
